Come and take a look! Just a hop, skip and a jump from Jacksonville - the cutest historic city in Southern Oregon!
This well maintained pool is at the back of the home. The stairs you see lead into the master bedroom.
As you drive up to the home you arrive at the garage entrance. The stairs to your right lead to the first level and the entrance into the living room.
This part of the home faces West. There is no entrance there. The garage is on a concrete slab and from there a roomy crawlspace finishes the basement.
A few steps up from the garage you arrive here. The tiled floor is heated. What looks like a breakfast bar is actually a built-in Jenn-Air grille
The kitchen cabinets are all custom made and there is a regular oven and a microwave-oven. The Jenn-Air cooktop has a downdraft instead of a hood. The counter top is maple laminated and is immaculate.
The kitchen window to the West is a bay window, but there is also a north facing window towards the pool.
The dining room window faces West. The tiled floor is heated. The chandelier was crafted by a friend of the owners out of antlers. If antlers are not your thing, the owner will replace it with the original chandelier. The cabinets are custom made also.
The den - doing double duty as an office is on the same level as the dining area.
Looking from the den toward the kitchen, going down the hall from there is the laundry room, a very large pantry and a full bathroom with a double sink.
This the den or office. It also has a closet and custom built shelving.
This bathroom has a double sink and a tub shower. It is located on the same level as the den, which could also be used as bedroom since it has a closet. These sinks were hand painted by a local artist in Jacksonville.
On the left you see the door towards the garage, The stairs going up are leading into the living room which has access to the deck with a door to the East and the West.
Stepping up into the leaving room you are greeting by this huge window stretching the widths of the home and reaching to the peak of the roof. It looks directly into the hillside across the way and you can enjoy watching the seasons change the scenery.
As you enter the living room, to your right is a window facing south towards the parking area and a window facing West. The West and East both feature doors where you can step out onto the surround deck.
The decorative wood stove is the center of the living room and will keep you cozy in winter when you have company or enjoy a conversation with your friend.
The rafters are all solid logs harvested from the property.
This door leading from the living room to the deck is facing West. It is an antique rescued from a home in Medford built in 1923, moved to a home in Ruch and now is installed here. When you visit, take a closer look!
From the living room, it is just a few steps up to the level of the bedrooms.
We are in the hallway of the bedroom Level.
Here we are in Master Bedroom. It has a window to the West and North and a door to a small deck with steps leading down to the pool. How nice!
The angle of the roof line makes it all extra cozy.
The ceiling in the Master Bedroom has wood paneling and a vintage wallpaper.
This is the door from the Master opening toward the pool. Let's go for a swim!
The Master Bedroom has a sink next to the door leading into the bathroom.
The sink in the Master Bedroom and the sinks on the lower level had been hand painted by a local artist. All bathroom fixtures in the home are gold plated.
Up under the ceiling in the Master Bedroom is another stained window. What a beautiful home!
There is a walk-in shower in the Master Bath.

Handcrafted Log Home with Pool, Bordering Thousands of Acres of Public Land
Private Applegate Valley Estate with Development Potential, just five miles from the charming historic town of Jacksonville.
The logs for this exceptional home were harvested, hand-cut, and polished right on the very property where the home proudly stands today. Designed by an architect (E. King) - no load-bearing walls! - and built by skilled local craftsmen with extraordinary attention to detail-from the antique doorknobs to the handcrafted cabinetry and staircase-this is truly a one-of-a-kind residence. Every beam and stair tread is made from solid wood, reflecting the quality and craftsmanship found throughout the home.
Lovingly maintained by its original owner, who grew up in this beautiful valley and understood how to properly care for a log home, the property remains in remarkable condition. There are no visible cracks in the logs, the chinking is solid, and foam insulation panels between the interior and exterior walls provide additional energy efficiency. The main level features comfortable in-floor radiant heat, while a classic Fisher wood stove creates warmth and ambiance in the living room.
The home's ingenious split-level design feels remarkably open and functional. Although technically four levels, the hillside setting and the split level design makes it feel like two.
As you enter through the attached garage, just a few steps lead to the main living level, where you'll find the kitchen, dining area, den, an oversized pantry, guest bath, and laundry room-all warmed by radiant floor heating.
From there, step up into the spacious living room, which is highlighted by a dramatic triangular window - spanning the width of the home and reaching into the rafters. It is facing southwest, filling the room with natural light and beautiful view of the treed hillsides. This room sits above the garage and also enjoys direct access to the wrap-around deck from both the east and west. The west entrance features a remarkable antique door originally salvaged from a Medford home built in 1923. It was later incorporated into another home before accompanying its owner to this property in 1978, where it became part of this lovingly crafted log home.
A short flight of stairs leads to the bedroom level. The primary bedroom features French doors opening just a few steps down to the well maintained swimming pool- a wonderful private retreat. The bathroom sinks were hand-painted with delicate yellow roses by a talented local artist whose work can no longer be duplicated. The original gold-plated fixtures remain throughout the home, showing only minor wear in places. The primary bath includes a walk-in shower, while the second bathroom offers a double vanity and an almost-unused jetted tub whose surround still looks virtually new. Vintage wallpaper adds warmth and character throughout the upstairs hallway and bedrooms.
One of the home's unique features is the absence of interior load-bearing walls, providing unusual design flexibility.
The setting is wonderfully private. Approximately 48 of the 53.59 acres adjoin thousands of acres of BLM and National Forest land, offering abundant wildlife, endless hiking and riding opportunities, and exceptional privacy. The property would lend itself beautifully to horses or other recreational uses.
Although there is currently no horse barn, the property includes a metal-covered carport in front of the garage with a concrete floor as well as a second covered structure downhill to the west also with a concrete floor. Originally intended as a dog kennel with adjacent feed storage, it could easily serve a variety of purposes.
The quarter-mile paved driveway leads through an electric security gate on Highway 238, conveniently operated from inside the home. Highway 238 winds through the renowned Applegate Valley, an area celebrated for its award-winning wineries, scenic beauty, and relaxed rural lifestyle.
The property consists of 53.59 acres. With remarkable foresight, the owner subdivided the land into several legal, buildable parcels.
Two parcels-10.04 acres and 5.01 acres-have direct frontage and access from Highway 238. The ten acres parcel already has a well, which pumps about 6 gallons per minute.
The remaining parcels are situated a quarter mile behind the entrance:
5.78 acres with the log home
14.85 acres with a small finished building featuring a concrete floor, air conditioning, and 220-volt electrical service. It was used for storage and therefore has no windows and a heavy duty metal door.
17.91 acres with a well-maintained single-wide manufactured home, built in 1961, 470 sft with brand new flooring, cabinets and appliances. The outside is metal and it does have skirting.
This thoughtfully planned property is ideal for multiple homes, a family compound, or multi-generational living.
Water resources are excellent. The well serving the log home produces approximately 12 gallons per minute with a 50 gallon pressure tank. The home is served by an oversized septic system that currently also accommodates the manufactured home. The manufactured home has a brand new floor, appliances and cabinets.
The finished shop on the 14.85-acre parcel does not currently have plumbing. The two highway-front parcels are unimproved except for the well, although electrical service is available nearby. The owner presently harvests firewood from these parcels, and several neatly stacked piles of cut firewood remain on the property.

This is one of the guest rooms on the bedroom level. Sweet!
This is one of the guest rooms on the bedroom level. How cozy is that?
I was just enamored by the all the attention to details in this home. Notice the rope sealing the pass through of the log. There are no bearing walls, all is held by these gigantic logs harvested and milled right on this property. A feast of architectural design.
There is also storage in the attic with a somewhat lofty access door.
Another interesting bathroom on the upper level with a jetted tub.
There are double sinks here and a jetted tub, which has hardly every been used with a glass surround.
The sinks are in the same bathroom as the jetted tub.
Many pulls and hardware are antiques to give the home a special flair.
Each log was hand peeled, selected and installed. You can see the craftsmanship here at the corner.
Looking down the deck along the West side. This deck also wraps around the South and East side.
Here is a close up of the logs. Notice how tightly they are fitted and polilshed.
A look at the parking area from the deck to the south. The covered shed is a great addition if you have some extra equipment.
If you don't want to enter through the garage, you can walk up the stairs to the living room on the outside.
This is a concrete retaining wall with a decorative rock face. Very nicely done! The greenery above it has a drip system, so it will stay happy during the hottest summer.
A wide-angle view of the parking area and the immaculately cared for surrounding property.
This is the driveway going down to the gate. It is paved all the way to the Highway, about a quarter mile.
While the property slopes down to the West, there is a nice level area where the sawmill for the home was when it was built. It now features this shed with a concrete floor.
A second shed with a metal roof is situated next to the drive way in front of the home.
The home has a double garage. One half serves as a shop while the SUV is parked in the other half.
